how to read digital camera resolution dimensions?
my D200 has a max of 3872x2592. Is this Length x Width or Width x Length?
a website i want to print from is saying i need to have at least 3100x3875 but that doesnt make sense. are they switching the 2 numbers around?
It doesn't really matter which is which. One is the long side and one is the shorter side. You can upload an image in either the vertical or horizontal and it will be fine.
You can upload it upside down for that matter.
It cracks me up when people ask what if you take a picture with the camera upside down. Well, the ground will crash into the sky and chaos will reign supreme. It will still print and you won't notice a difference when you receive it.
It means that the longest side of your image needs to be at least 3875 and the shorter side needs to be at least 3100 regardless of whether it is in a vertical or horizontal position. Your image is probably not a high enough resolution to make a good print. It may allow you to upload and order a print anyway, but you have been warned so if you don't like the results you are stuck with them
