Art Paper Variety
Make an art portfolio .. How long does it take?
Hi, I'm a high school student entering my senior year in the fall (September). I'm interested in going to an art school for college after graduation, and wonder how long it takes for a portfolio of art to take? to uni? I still feeling that not enough time to make a top (10-15 pieces of art) and do you really have to have a lot of variety? I do everything on paper art on (drawing, painting, etc.). I do not usually make sculptures or .. 3-D art, graphic, and everything else. The websites say you have to do a variety. What does exactly? Can I make a lot of drawings and paintings in this media (water color, oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, etc.) or is that the variety is not enough? Do I need more diversity (and, for example, 3-D art?) Thank you for your contribution! I really need your help! ok .. but my main question is, how long will it take to do?
For a portfolio, ignore the "variety" and put your best work there. Honestly portfolio reviewers like variety, because it shows that you are very versatile. But the best comes first. If you do something that are not used to, but not as good as do what you like, put the best piece in your portfolio. Depending on the pieces, 10-15 sounds pretty good for a college entrance. Drawing and painting are the bases for 3-D art and other things. It is the most important. It is the foundation. Do not worry if you do not have those things. There is a lot a number of factors that decide how long they take to put together. It takes more time to do what it takes to put your stuff or do new things to add to it. What part of your day that you devote to it? Is it going to add anything new? If not do anything new to add and just go with what you have, you can have it all together in a few days. Do not assume you will say, 3 days and wait until as long as you have. Do not procrastinate about it. Just start working on it and you will meet.
