What do you think is wrong with my Nikon D60?
I have had my Nikon D60 for more than a year and a half, I bought it on Dec. 30th, 2008. I was about to have a photo shoot with a client, when an error message popped up on the screen. It read "Shutter Error. Turn camera off and on." So I did, but it was ineffective. I took it to my camera repair guy and he said that the shutter needed to be replaced, since I have taken over 100,000 pictures with it. So he got the parts needed to replace it, but then realized that that wasn't what was wrong with it. They sent it to Nikon, but I'm not sure how long that will take. Have any of you ever experienced/heard of something like this happening, and what can I expect to hear back from Nikon? I'm contemplating just buying a new camera body, but I don't want to have to buy a new one, if my D60 can be fixed. Please comment!! Thanks.
This does sound strange but 100,000 is a lot of shutter actuations so that part doesn't surprise me.
If your client can wait then I'd suggest letting Nikon have their way with it. If not, I know because I've been where you are, get a new camera. The D60 appears to be discontinued but you can still find them on line. If you're a Nikon loyalist then shop the local stores. I'm assuming you are since you probably have all your lenses and changing systems now would be expensive.
