Is it Normal for a Nikon, Coolpix Camera to take a couple seconds until you can take another picture?
I have a Nikon, Coolpix digital Camera, and after I take a picture, a red light flashes, and I can;t take a picture for a couple seconds. This is very inconvenient, and I was wondering if this is normal, or not. Anyone with any suggestions, Please Help!!
When you use flash, it takes a couple of seconds to charge up to the 1000v needed to fire the flash.
If you're not using flash and you've only just noticed this, it could be that your camera is having trouble saving to a card that you haven't formatted recently.
When you delete images, the camera often leaves junk behind and the camera has to save further images around this rubbish, slowing things down. Formatting clears the rubbish out - it will wipe the card of all images, too, so download anything you want to keep to your computer first.
If you need to take several pictures in rapid succession, see if your camera has burst mode.
This takes a number of pictures one after another on a single press of the shutter button and then saves them in one go. It will take longer to hand back to you after, though.
How many you can take depends on camera model.
